Faster loading
The main page of your Web site should load in 10 seconds or less with a 56k modem. Do your best to make your pages load quickly. Use minimal animated graphics; include only those necessary to enhance your site theme and stay away from flash designs. In addition, don't use too many banners. Banners take a lot of time to load. Do not set sound to auto play when someone visits your site. This can annoy some visitors.
Don't make pages that scroll for seven or eight screens. Web sites that take a long time to load drive visitors to other Web sites. Don't let this happen to you.
Use GIFCruncher to decrease your file sizes and help your page
